How to Make an Indoor Playhouse!
This was such a delightful surprise. I just had to share it with you! Irene is so gifted, in so many ways! She sews, she paints, she builds...and the final product is just darling. The best part about it is that it is portable and goes on top of a foldable table, so if space is at a premium, when play is done, the playhouse can be stored until next time! This has to be our secret, though! It's a surprise for her grandson! Thanks for showing us this wonderful treat for your gr

Tomato Protection Part 2: The Varmit Wars
I just looked up varmit - and it says that the formal version is "varmint." But since I'm mad at them, I'm going to use the informal version because I don't think they deserve any better. Also, don't be alarmed at how red my face is. When I over exert myself, I just get red. It's another good reason I hate the varmits. I shouldn't be overextering myself on their behalf. Let's hope this is all worth it.

Surprisingly, our favorite site of all the wonderful and interesting places we visited was the Ardoch Roman Fort, which was essentially just ancient earthen work the Romans had created as a defensive strategy during their time in Scotland. When we visited, the weather was inclement, but beautiful, in its own way, and it felt right to be in that place with the rain, and the wind, knowing that Romans and Scots before us had endured this exact same climate. Looking back at the c

Balmoral Castle & A Birthday Tea!
I'm so spoiled! But let me give you the closed door tour of the Castle. It was quite extraordinary, because despite the fact that there were priceless heirlooms everywhere (so much china!) it was a fairly modest affair. The dining room was serviceable and spare with paintings of Queen Victoria's children on the walls. The living room was comfortable, with furniture unchanged from 100 years ago! The library was cozy, lots of books, and a great view of the garden. And in the
