Balmoral Castle & A Birthday Tea!

I'm so spoiled! But let me give you the closed door tour of the Castle. It was quite extraordinary, because despite the fact that there were priceless heirlooms everywhere (so much china!) it was a fairly modest affair. The dining room was serviceable and spare with paintings of Queen Victoria's children on the walls. The living room was comfortable, with furniture unchanged from 100 years ago! The library was cozy, lots of books, and a great view of the garden. And in the foyer and hall ways...LOTS of mounted stag heads! But nothing ornate or over the top; it felt like a lived in home. Although I do admire Kate and Diana for keeping the children in check and protecting all that precxious china! And brand new green striped tartan wall to wall carpet picked especially by King Charles!
Another fabulous day in Scotland!
