This was a multi-day project. Robert and I brainstormed, practiced, constructed, and then delivered a spectacularly fun "Trunk or Treat" experience for our granddaughters. Lots of the "Wicked" props came from my granddaughter Abby's recent 5th birthday party. No nethelesss, I would say that making the "Wicked" cake was easier than this by a mile! My husband is a big flashlight fan - so he thinks this is just great! I didn't have a plan when I started. And I didn't watch any yotube videos either! I just blundered forward and it turned out ok! I'm pretty intrepid about crafting. And it pays off! I think Abby will love it!

We've been thiking about this awhile. But sometimes the gravestones just write themselves! We have a lot of fun together on Halloween!

The littles enjoyed, and so did the parents! Robert made sure everyone was safe with personal flashlights. And he even made the grands wear neon lights so we could always see them! Baby Jay just snuggled with mom. The weather was fine, & the lights wer bright. Can't wait for Halloween!

One of our front yard pots broke ( a pumpkin fell on it!) and so we took a trip to this fountain store. It always feels like a little vacation! While we didn't get a fountain...Robert was definitely eyeing that bear!

This week is "Trunk or Treat" prep too! Robert and I are busily constructing a fun Halloween adventure for all three of our trick or treating grands. It's a busy season for grandparents! I didn't have a lot of time to properly leaf peep, OR to take pictures, but it's not too hard to impress a California girl - in a leaf peeping way! So I was duly impressed with the colors and the beauty. And I did get some nice pictures, but the tree color is even better in person. Leaf peep away!

A very busy few days. But meeting with readers and compatriots in the resistance is inspiring. Solidarity. We must keep up the pressure.

I'll just say. It's a lot. Today Robert had a Reader Meeting (watch the video!), spoke to Swing Left Group Leaders on an evening Zoom call, and is now writing the newsletter. And we're in Boston en route to a No Kings Day rally in Concord! I know that many of you are also working hard for democracy everyday as well. We hear from you daily. And it is a lot. We get it. Know that we are right by your side, working for democracy, speaking out, and showing up. Just like you. But

Robert Hubbell, Author of Today's Edition Being in community with like-minded compatriots is both a balm and an inspiration. I'm always inspired hearing my husband talk about his confidence in the future of our democracy and the obligation we have to keep working to save it. Today was no exception. But I was also inspired by the dedication, stories, and commitment of the attendees at this reader event. My heart was uplifted. We will not stop fighting. Together.
