Weekend Viewing: Seaside Hotel

I cried when Season Ten ended, the final season of Seaside Hotel. Not because it was sad. But because I knew I would miss spending time with all of my favorite characters. I know you will fall in love with them too.

Also, I want to provide a little clarity on the historical elements of the story. It would be inaccurate not to include the events of World War II, considering the era in which the story is based. And as I mentioned in the video, the story does address how the Nazi regime impacted this small area of Denmark. However, despite this heavy content, while distressing, the storyline has many uplifting storylines to counter the somber events of the war. So do not let that plot line deter you.

In addition to the WWII storyline, I appreciated the sensitive treatment of various other social issues that thread throughout the seasons. Seaside Hotel provided creative intellectual content alongside the romance, hi-jinks, and beauty. Plus the food they serve! So fun to see!

I definitley want to visit Denmark one day! But this feels like the next best thing!

We have come to love subtitles. It's a luxury to focus and enjoy a show. We'd watched many seasons of Seaside hotel, when our Danish friend told us it was the #1 show in Denmark. We became very attached to the Seaside Hotel "family".

Here are a few other foreign series we have recently enjoyed - check them out!

Call My Agent - French - Netflix

The Time In Between - Spanish - PBS app or Amazon - set during the time of the Spanish Civil war through the rise of Franco. (great story and plot line)

Love Inevitably - Spanish & Italian - PBS app or Amazon - a well written romance

Thank you for this. I have never heard of this but it sounds exactly like something I would love. I’ll report back 🙂
