The Day After the Renee Good Murder and The Day After That

I recorded the first video on Thursday night. And then went to bed. I decided not to publish it. I was despondent, and didn't want to inflict that on you. But before I took myself to bed, I asked Robert if there was any place to protest the next day. A few minutes later he said that there was a "pop up" protest on the 101 Freeway overpass. I said, "Let's go."

So that's how it all came about. And I'm telling you that being on that overpass was important for two reasons. 1) Democratic resistance any where is a good thing; it can encourage others to engage, and convince those in leadership that collective voices matter. And 2) Resistance in the face of unspeakable actions by those in leadership, is important for the soul and psyche. It says to the spirit inside you, "I can do something to make a difference. I do have agency. I will not let these events control my mood, or my life. I am one of the "We the People" in our sacred Constitution."

When you do that, things make more sense. And when the next day dawns, after the news you think you cannot bear, you will be able to get out of bed, get on your feet...and resist.

And if we do not quit, we will prevail. As Mr. Hubbell says,"It's just a matter of time."
