I was on a brief hiatus last week because one of my daughter's nannies was on vacation and I filled in - so by the end of the day, I did not have the bandwidth for the blog! I did enjoy my time with the grandchildren, and I know I will miss spending time with them now that my nanny duties are over!
So I begin the week with a grouping of books that I have read recently. How do I choose my books? I go to the book store, read the jacket covers and then I'm on my way! I like to read books that are well reviewed and awarded, but I also like light romance reading, so my tastes are very eclectic. I guess in that way I'm a little like my daughter Julia.
I remember when she was growing up, and still quite little, she would read anything that was laying around, magazines, newspapers, novels, biographies, textbooks, anything in the book case, anything at all. And she has a crack memory -- so all those little tid bits are still in her noggin today. I do much the same, I'll read just about anything, but, unfortunately, my memory is not even half as good as hers!
But I still enjoy the read!
Be sure to let me know your favorite recent read!
Here's the list of books that I mentioned:
The Wager: A Tale of Shipwreck, Mutiny and Murder - by David Grann

Demon Copperfield - by Barbara Kingsolver
The Soulmate Equation - by Christina Lauren
This is The Story of a Happy Marriage - by Ann Patchett
Bridges of Madison County - by Robert Waller

I did read this -- and it stayed with me for days. I loved it!
All the Light We Cannot See, Anthony Doerr. Beautiful story of two children in France during war. Writing is equisite......I can still feel walking in her steps.
