I feel like I didn't give Jill Biden a fair shake in this video. She does talk about the sorrow of losing Beau, the support she offered Hunter, her fight to keep her Community College teaching job, & her love of education. But I don't know. It just seemed like I knew all those things, though not with the great detail that she describes. The Presidency seems like a high pressure, high urgency job, and I'm sure the First Lady feels all that as she strives to do the work that she sets out for herself. I just never felt that urgency. She essentially stays away from any political talk as it relates to world affairs. And she makes it very clear that all decisions were ultimately Joe's. Fair. Of course they should be. It just seemed like she was skating over the surface of the very intense life that she lived. I'm not criticizing. It's a hard thing to do to support your husband, stay out of politics, but still be an important and helpful force in the administration. I know she did an admirable job. I just don't get enough from her in this book. But maybe that will come later.
