Fifteen Minutes of Fame!

We were nearly famous for 15 minutes because our driveway was used to host the craft services snack table for a commercial which was advertising an extended car warranty!

I know it's a stretch...but it was fun to see how it all works, and be part of the buzz! They arrived at 7:00 a.m.and didn't leave until close to 5:00 p.m. We saw Ernie Hudson acting his part in our neighbor's garage, and we were invited to have all the snacks we wanted from the caterer in our driveway. PLUS we got two free Car Shield baseball caps before they left. Honestly, what more could you ask for?

In 1999, we actually had a film company use the INSIDE of our home for a movie called the "The Mating Habits of Earth Bound Humans."(It has a 33% favorable rating on Rotten Tomatoes - so that tells you something.) At the time we agreed to the movie we didn't know the title, and so, it's a little awkward. All we knew was that the movie was about an alien observing life on earth...I'll just say that nothing untoward happened in our house, but we did not leave the experience unscathed.

Our house is not that big, and they had lots of heavy equipment everywhere -- they cracked pieces of our hardwood floor, and left lots of scratches on the walls. And though they did send carpenters to fix the damage, the floor was really never quite the same. So after that experience, we quit the movie business...until now.

In the end, it was a good day's pay for virtually no work at all. Retirement can be so lucrative!
