Cinco de Mayo!

Cinco de Mayo is a big deal here in California, where we have many residents who share a rich Mexican heritage, and some of the best Mexican restaurants around! It is a yearly celebration held on May 5, which commemorates the anniversary of Mexico's victory over the Second French Empire at the Battle of Puebla in 1862, led by General Ignacio Zaragoza.

And it's a time to celebrate the wonderful traditions of Mexican culture and food!

Unfortunately, I didn't get a proper picture of the food! This is one of the times when I forgot that I am a daily blogger, and I just live my life without regard for my blogging duties. I must have been really hungry, which is hard to imagine since I ate almost all of the chip basket.

At any rate, we stopped into this restaurant on a whim. We had just finished an errand, and it was close to noon. We're retired, so, we thought why not? We rarely eat out for lunch.

When we arrived and I realized that it was Cinco de Mayo, and there were festivities in order...what fun! We had a delightful time, eating, and listening to the mariachi music. And it was an unexpected surprise!

You never know what life has in store!
