Belleek Freakout!

I have so much more that I want to say about this china! And the video was exceptionally long too!

But...boy oh boy was this a fabulous find! If one was to purchase each of these separately, the price would be expotentially more. However, the real issue is this. The true reason that I was able to buy all these treasures for a song is that no one is buying Belleek china. No one is buying any kind of china. Except me! I bought this in an online auction -- so the price could have been bid up extraordinarily high...but I set a limit for how much I was willing to pay. I set my limit at 150.00, never expecting to win, but no one bid above me at 100.00 -- so it was mine!

Belleek used to command extraordinarily high prices, and many collectors would purchase the Irish china as an investment, like one might purchase fine art. Unfortunately, recent days have seen vintage Belleek prices plummet. And so many treasures which would have previously been unaffordable, are now within reach of the amateur collector like me.

I know. I know. My daughters won't want it. And then what to do? I've decided I don't care. I will enjoy it while I can. They can sell it in an online auction, and maybe another buyer will treasure it as I plan to do.

Just looking at it makes me happy. That's good enough for now. Can't wait to use it for a tea party!
