What a lovely experience to share; Thank you Jill! Your granddaughters are so blessed to have this experience (and I'm sure many others!) residing in the "little girl" memories that they will carry, consciously or unconsciously for the rest of their lives. What lucky kids to have grandparents with a Silver City cabin! I should know — my grandparents , the McCallisters, owned what is now Mimi Gregg’s cabin when I was growing up and my family spent two weeks every summer there. Mimi very kindly allows us to use it whenever we can make it out from Nebraska so my husband, brother and I spent the last week of June there— first time in three years. I remember as a kid going to campfires at the Hubbells and all of the SC old timers (Mathenys, Prescotts, Penwells etc.) I enjoy all your posts, Jill, but the Silver City ones are the best! What a wonderful 4th. I enjoyed watching the Boston event with the crowd celebrating like we are a unified nation. Was uplifting to see. I prayed this wasn't the last 4th that we could celebrate our democracy.
