These were so fun to make (thanks Dan and Julia!) and they look spectacular AND they are delicious! Just a few tips: 1) It's not as hard as it looks to beat egg yolks to stiffness -- if you have a stand mixer! But even a little yoke in the egg whites can cause problems. 1) You will know the egg whites have formed stiff peaks if they hold their shape when upside down 2) You must use food coloring gel...not just plain food coloring. 3) Maybe use a lighter coating of gel if you
Boom Sticks by Cindy Joseph have a been a great option for me the last few years - especially during the pandemic when I have worn little to no make up. I love the option for no color hydration -- and also I love the pop of color and the shimmer sticks. The red Boom Stick is for all skin colors and tones. You can apply it so it's as saturated or as light as you like. The same with the shimmer stick. The current price is about $67.00 with a holiday discount, and I think it's
I know I said "buy nothing"... but sometimes a girl just has to go shopping!!! My youngest daughter, Julia, lives in Washington DC, and is visiting for the holidays. She got a fancy new job with the government and needs a few new wardrobe items for her "office attire." So, instead of heading to Good Will -- I suggested we hit the mall, and have a little Christmas cheer! Oh What Fun! We visited the Westfield Topanga Mall in Woodland Hills, a fairly large mall, with a variety
I'm mad that there is such a reflection in the window so you can't see the display in window to proper effect. Nonetheless, the windows were such a visual delight...so festive, and sparkly. And red!!!! I just enjoyed lingering and looking. But the truth is...there really wasn't one thing in the window that I would have bought (even if I had all the money in the world). Well. Maybe I would have bought the the Baccarat crystal Christmas tree! However, the truth is that the pand
Jeffrey's guide dog Fiona, was a pistol today. When she arrived I had just purchased some fresh baked chicken for our lunch. I decided (and Jeffrey said it was ok!) to give Fiona a little taste for a treat. Well. She didn't forget about that treat, and spent the rest of the visit reminiscing about it, and complaining that no other chicken was forth coming. However, despite that hiccup, she was a sweet girl, and mostly listened to her dad -- even though we had In-N-Out Burgers
It's actually a brilliant idea. We ( by we I mean you and me as parents AND grandparents) spend thousands of dollars on "stuff" for the kidlets - but how long do they use that "stuff"? Not very long - they grow so fast! And some of the things were very expensive, or barely used -- so what to do with them? This service allows you to consign your kid's "stuff", & set the price. The consigner has to create the tags, bundle the toys, or clean the stroller, etc. Then the consign
This is a craft that has gotten a lot more complicated over the years - but I am up to the task! The one thing that I miss -- ( and my daughter also told me she misses it too ) is that the names are no longer ON the stockings but rather on a tag that hangs from the stocking. Why is that? But anyways, ...thanks Mom, for all the stitches, and all the love, in every stocking that you made for us. We remember you on Christmas and everyday...with great affection and gratitude.
Just what I needed! A relaxing evening in my cozy kitchen with all of my favorite holiday decorations! 25 years of Christmas cups, multiple visits to Austin's "A Christmas Affair" with daughter Jenny, a Christmas teapot collection, and a sparkling snow globe! So many fun memories at Christmas time.
I don't think my hair has been this shade ever. Honestly. But really...what does it matter? Except that I'm vain - it doesn't really matter at all. And I'm pretty sure that vanity is one of the cardinal sins...so I need to get over myself. Quick. The weekend is going to be a glorious gratitude filled 2 days. My husband is going to feel so lucky!! No complaining from me! You have a great two days too!
